Northwell Health is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery team at North Shore University Hospital. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery you will be providing evidence-based and patient-centered care in a high-volume setting. This is a Full-time Day Shift position, that includes rotating weekends.
Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse, your essential job functions will include the following:
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
Effectively communicates with patients, families, and the healthcare team to promote a collaborative environment.
Administers medications and treatments safely and accurately.
Continuously monitors patient status, identifying and addressing changes promptly.
Educates patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and available resources.
Promotes patient safety and quality of care by adhering to established policies and procedures.
Evaluates and documents patient care and outcomes thoroughly and accurately.
Attends all required mandatory trainings and in-services and adheres to Northwell Health policies and procedures.
Maintains professional competence through continuing education and professional development.
Actively participates in team meetings and contributes to departmental process improvements.
Maintains a positive and professional work environment and is accountable for maintaining the core values of Northwell Health: Patient Centered, Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation and Quality.
Competently operates the Electronic Medical Record.
Understands the department budget and the impact that their care provides to the bottom line.
Understands hospital and nursing philosophy and mission to create an efficient work environment.
Maintains patient and staff confidentiality per HIPAA requirements.
Assist with bedside report with outgoing nurse to assure complete and comprehensive update.
Follow the Northwell Health Universal Protocol per policy, every time medications are prepared and/or administered.
Utilize an evidence-based approach to implement care within a Patient and Family Centered Model.
Promote interdisciplinary teamwork to provide optimal patient care in an environment of mutual respect.
Ensure that patient's rights are respected, including safety and confidentiality. Document all safety concerns
Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
BLS and ACLS required
NRP required for Labor and Delivery, and Mother/Baby RN's
Completion of specialty certification preferred (RNC-OB/NIC, CCRN)
Two years acute care nursing experience, preferred
