Job Purpose
To provide transaction specific leadership on origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and closing in line with regulatory requirements and within required risk parameters, across Africa with particular focus on structured transactions for a targeted portfolio.

Assist with strategy for key market segment, product and sector coverage, driving revenue from focused and high-impact areas of business for the firm.
Ensure understanding and application of strategic alignment of the Investment Banking portfolio for which they have been appointed.

Meet individual performance targets on agreed performance scorecards.
Be a positive contributor to the broader deal team to contribute to Investment Banking delivering its overall Pan African Investment Banking (IB) business plan.
Deal Generation & Execution
Responsibility for end-to-end execution of mandates within business origination target portfolio
Manage specific mandates to their finality.
Oversee the entire lifecycle of transaction and assist on all technical details regarding complex projects.
Assist to obtain mandates.
To review work for the most senior executives.
Complete deals independently.
Structuring skills.
Due Diligence
Accountable to direct legal, financial and technical due diligence on project mandates, incorporating specialist advice as required and ensuring internal procedures are followed.
Identify risks/ rewards related to complex project structuring/ financing activities; identify risks/ rewards as relates to local and international economic activities.
Negotiations & Documentation
Leading role in structuring deals as well as documenting and closing
Develop project financial models with underlying assumptions
Accountable for conducting industry research as part of business origination for a selected target portfolio and assist in analysing the impact on existing investment pipeline.
Internal & External Relationships
Responsible for cultivating client relationships in the Investment Banking value chain through pro-active client interactions, with key focus on high impact potential for the broader franchise.
Build professional credibility through sound business acumen.
Participates in business forums.
Effective working relationships within Standard Bank Group and across functional clusters in order to better serve the client needs.
Drive innovation and actively implement innovative and value-added project structuring ideas with direct benefits for internal IB structuring standards, as well as direct and demonstrable benefits for clients.
Act as a change agent to improve project development standards and improve project delivery skills.
Regulatory, Compliance & Risk Management
Monitor financial health of customer’s transactions; review daily monitoring and performance, anticipate potential problem areas that could negatively impact Standard Bank and client objectives
Assess quality and integrity of project partners including developers and other Standard Bank service providers.
Monitor governance and regulatory adherence for all managed clients
Participate and implement all regulatory projects
Manage adherence to the credit process (credit submissions; documentation and collateral) (Investment Banking Compliance requirements – FICA)
Act as compliance officer on each transaction.
Assess, analyse, manage and report potential operational risks to affected portfolio and internal key Standard Bank stakeholders (local compliance, credit)
Accountable for applying a general awareness and knowledge of policy guidelines (both local and global) including KYC and other requirements of clients, reporting obligations
Identify and manage risk factors for internal Standard Bank portfolio and external regulatory compliance.
