Job Details

We are seeking an ambitious, self-driven student, highly organised and with exceptional quantitative and communication skills, and enthusiasm to work within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team, which will be responsible for developing advanced analytics and software capabilities for the automated negotiation of flexible capacity resources. The intern will support forecasting-related tasks. These can include development and implementation of forecasting models based on time series or other algorithms, creation of reporting based on models outputs and comparison against external data. The candidate is expected to contribute both by proposing novel methodologies or improvements to the models or processes, and by hands-on execution.

Your Tasks

Assists in the implementation and assessment of day-ahead and intraday price and load forecasting models (Time Series, regression models…); tests and deploys new algorithms and software in commercial prototypes and simulations using statistical software such as R or Python.

Collects and processes electricity prices, and other explanatory time series and factors, in a common data environment (relational or not)

Automated reporting, visualisation of complex simulations/analytics outcomes, communicating insights and synthesising results to senior colleagues through clear, actionable conclusions and insightful commentary.

Actively participate in weekly meetings

Perform research and implement solutions on topics related to the Operations research department and, especially, the Forecasting team.

Document software designs and implementation details.

Maintains documentation of models used and development work.

Continuously expand knowledge in demand-side flexibility optimisation as well as modelling and optimisation techniques

Participate in the company life.

Skills & Requirements

BSc or MSc Student or recent graduate in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or Engineering; or a combination of qualifications/experience indicating a strong analytical profile.

Strong proficiency with either R or Python or equivalent for quantitative work; including building statistical or machine learning models, data analysis and visualization.

Competency in mathematical programming using optimization packages such as Gurobi or CPLEX is valuable but not compulsory.

Some knowledge of energy systems is an advantage but is not required.

Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. The capacity to describe and illustrate complex technical concepts in a simple understandable way.

Intellectual curiosity, flexibility, initiative, proactivity and autonomy is a must.

Team player that is comfortable working in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment, working towards specific technical objectives while adhering to project goals and deadlines
