You will be responsible for developing communications plans and strategies, monitoring press coverage, and disseminating information to the public.The ideal candidate is a creative, results-oriented communicator who excels at multi-tasking and works well with multiple people simultaneously to support project outcomes.Essential Functions:Develop communications plans and strategies in support of project goals and priorities.Cultivate and maintain media relationships, and serve as a liaison with members of the press.Write speeches, news releases, social media posts and other communication materials.Prepare information for dissemination and distribute the materials to media outlets, social media, websites, internal emails or the public, as appropriate.Solicit project information, status reports and feedback from County project stakeholders, departments, or team members, as needed.Edit, proofread and finalize content.Respond to inquiries from the public and the press.Create multimedia presentations.Design marketing materials and outreach efforts to support project priorities.Create video scripts and content as assigned by supervisor.Use technology to develop and deliver communication initiatives.Act as the secondary county spokesperson as needed.Serves as back-up to internal communications and records as necessary.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.Strong editing and proofreading skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Proficiency in Social Media Platforms: LinkedIn, X (Formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Strong public speaking skillsAbility to use creative marketing principles.Understand visual elements, video scripting, video editing, video marketing, etc.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field is preferredMinimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role is preferredGovernmental work experience is a plusSpecial Requirements:Valid driver’s license and ability to driveMust pass a background checkThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; employee will perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the supervisor or other management as required.
