Role Summary:
The Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) Product Sales Manager (PSM) is a high impact and exciting customer facing role, with technical and business responsibilities to grow sales of Baker Hughes Artificial Lift solutions and products. This PSM position is an experienced front-line role within our sales organization. The PSM manages assigned geographic areas and is the primary Baker Hughes (BH) ALS interface with our customers in these assigned areas. You are accountable to grow market share for our electrical submersible pumps, gas lift, plunger lift, and automation offerings. These applications are typically on-shore in Nigeria and other Sub-Sahara Africa (SSA) countries, as needed. Critical deliverables are; safely increase orders/revenues in these markets, identify customer needs and match ALS solutions with their operational requirements. Success in this role comes from your business development, technical background, domain expertise and consultative skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Develops, analyzes and maintains sales forecasts using Salesforce.com.
• Maintain working relationships with current clients; identifying customer needs and matching them to ALS products / applications.
• Acquires in-depth knowledge of competitor products / applications and marketing strategies.
• Serves as domain expert / advisor / consultant / educator on the technical aspects of products and services to customers, in the assigned areas.
• Maintains effective communication and coordination with Application Engineers to achieve customers short / long term plans.
• Investigates and resolves customer problems and complaints in collaboration with the Marketing, Commercial Operations, Engineering, Technology and Operations functions.
• Assists with preparation of proposals and presentation packages. Creates and delivers technical presentations.
• Generates growth of customer base by cold calls to identify customer needs.
• Communicates market intelligence and competitive information effectively to marketing, sales, and product development teams. Work as a key contributor of the Country’s long term strategic plan.
• Maintains knowledge of market trends, customer requirements, competitive activity, and product development.
• Promotes the value proposition of the ALS product line within the customer organization.
• Assists the Marketing team with the implementation of marketing plans.
• Assist in the identification and attendance of appropriate trade shows.
• Be an ambassador for BH, always ensuring activities are carried out in accordance with BH Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and policies
• Pro-actively champion and implement HS&E and Quality processes; identify and eliminate/mitigate potential hazards/risks.
• Ensures safe working conditions and practices by following and ensuring compliance with BH HS&E policies. Provide visible leadership engagement; conduct regular documented safety walks; ensure hazards are identified, and appropriate mitigation is put in place
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years related sales / commercial experience in Artificial Lift industry or rotating equipment/ oilfield services/ chemicals.
• Knowledge of Artificial Lift product lines and services, application experience is critical.
• Thorough understanding of industry.
• Good interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills, plus the ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing
• Demonstrated understanding of product line strategies, marketing, commercial, and sales plans.
• Ability to lead technical evaluations in the assigned product line.
• Proven ability to develop strong customer relationships
• Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the BH core values
Desired Characteristics:
• MBA is preferred
• 8+ years related sales / commercial experience
• Established internal and external network in assigned sales area.
