Claim Consultant

As a Claim Consultant you will be responsible for:

Determining coverage, investigating and resolving non-injury or less complex auto physical damage (APD) claims involving minimal to moderate property damage and limited loss of use, submitted by insured, claimants or third parties, within specific financial limits and authority to act.
Communicating effectively, by responding to inquiries and other information; using discretion and judgment when sharing sensitive and/or confidential information, escalating more complex issues as appropriate; keeping stakeholders and leadership appropriately informed; participating in team and/or regional communications as appropriate.
Continuously building knowledge of claim policies, practices and procedures while developing professional competencies and claim handling skills to progress toward independent management of APD losses, consistent with training plan milestones, service requirements and quality metrics, to effectively drive claim outcomes.
Effectively and professionally handling customers by resolving less complex complaints and conflicts within level of authority; setting customer expectations for timelines and deliverables and adhering to commitments; understanding and responding effectively to customer and/or channel feedback as required to drive quality outcomes.
Monitoring processes within level of responsibility; providing support for assigned work areas to drive efficient operations; using initiative to recognize and solve problems with work processes; providing informal support and coaching on basic claim practices and protocols.

Have prior experience handling customer interactions/communications in a high volume, fast paced environment.

What Else Can You Expect?

As part of the Claim team, you will:

Learn how to evaluate, investigate and negotiate an insurance claim. This training involves detailed guidelines around how Travelers conducts claims handling across the organization.
Be mentored to develop expertise through claim handling strategies, quality support, best practice recommendations, and the Claim Technical Excellence Community (CTEC).
Complete your claims development in your first 1-2 years which involves extensive training modules, knowledge and on-the-job opportunities, and peer learning activities to fully enhance and improve the claims consultant expertise, while supporting professional development to advance within Travelers Claim Organization.
