Role Purpose
The role of the Mining Engineer is to provide technical support to the Production team and assist in the planning and design of the mine. The Mining Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the mine is operated in a safe and efficient manner, and that all mining activities are carried out in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.

KAZ Minerals is a high growth copper company focused on large scale, low cost, open pit mining in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. It operates the Aktogay and Bozshakol copper mines in Kazakhstan, three underground mines and concentrators in the East Region of Kazakhstan and the Bozymchak copper-gold mine in Kyrgyzstan. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Safety
Demonstrate personal commitment to safety and KAZ Minerals safety principles.
Ensure safety standards are explained and implemented.
Ensure safe work practices are followed.
Proactively identify and resolve unsafe conditions and practices.
Reporting of any incidents and near misses.
Production Support
Provide technical support to the Production team.
Assist in the planning and design of the mine.
Monitor and report on mine performance.
Identify and implement improvements to mining operations.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Ensure that all mining activities are carried out in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
Planning and Design
Assist in the preparation of mine plans and designs.
Develop and maintain mine models.
Conduct mine design and optimization studies.
Prepare reports and presentations on mine planning and design activities.
Other Responsibilities
Participate in the development and implementation of new mining technologies.
Assist in the training and development of mining personnel.
Maintain a strong working knowledge of mining regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mining engineering role.
Skills
Strong technical skills in mine planning and design.
Proficiency in mine planning software such as Vulcan, Datamine, or Surpac.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Fluency in English and Russian is preferred.
