Position: Area Manager Microfinance
Job Summary:
Oversee and manage the operations of several Branch Units/offices within a defined area (4-7 Branch Units). Area managers help develop and execute strategy within their assigned regions in line with the organisation's strategic objectives. The Area Manager supervises Branch Managers to ensure optimal branch performance as well as excellent compliance to procedures. To achieve targets while containing Operational risk and maintaining a motivated and professional workforce
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Achieve overall branch targets in terms of disbursement, recovery, client recruitment, and profitability, managing operational expenses as budgeted in the plan.
Implement and provide oversight of adherence to the business policies, standards, and processes and procedures
Maintain loan quality/Portfolio Quality for respective branches and take the necessary corrective measures.
Proactively find out problems with collections, loan utilisation, or fraud and follow up with action plan, as needed.
Manage and report risk/potential risk events with recommended mitigation actions to management and support timely corrective actions/decisions. To monitor/check internal controls being used in all operational areas and take the initiative to introduce improvement measures to address any irregularities
Ensuring all assets/Security items including motor bikes of BRAC Uganda are well managed. Periodically verifies the stocks in coordination with logistics department and ensures appropriate maintenance
Manage Human resource through effective coaching, counselling and objective performance appraisals. Plan trainings for branch staff for smooth operations.
Maintaining and monitoring physical upkeep and maintenance of the respective branches
Coordinate and supervise operations to ensure proper recording and timely reconciliation of transactions done in the branch
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Must be a self-motivator and goal getter.
Strong communication, managerial, organizational skills, strategic decision-making ability and critical thinking abilities
Sound knowledge of Business environment and credit analysis with practical experience
Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities with analytical and conceptual skills
Ability to train and coach the other staffs and good inter personal skill with ability to listen & respond effectively
Flexibility to adapt to different environments and good relationship building capabilities
Commitment to work under tight deadlines with accuracy and completeness
Working Knowledge of English, both written and spoken is required and proficient in commonly used computer applications
Demonstrates high level of integrity and ethical behaviour and must maintain confidentiality.
Ability to analyze and interpret data to identify trends and make informed decisions
Able to manage performance including setting clear goals, track performance and conduct performance reviews timely
Possession of a Valid riding permit/License with riding skills, with willingness to travel extensively
Experience of more than three years with MFI / Bank at least two year in managerial role or direct experience in related field such as banking or Finance is essential
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Commerce/ Business Administration/Economics / Statistics or any other related field from a recognized University.
