Freisenbruch Insurance Services Ltd. (FIS), a local Bermudian company providing insurance, pension and broking services to both the domestic and international marketplace, is seeking a highly motivated, organized and results driven Vice President – Personal and Commercial Lines to join their team. Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President – Personal and Commercial Lines is responsible to provide underwriting direction and oversight, policy updates, audit functions, and to ensure risk control measures are maintained.Responsibilities• Overall responsibility for the successful execution of Strategic objectives for the P&C department.• Overall responsibility for the development and execution of the department business plan.• Manage and develop the personal and commercial lines teams to ensure service standards are maintained and underwriting guidelines are continuously met.• Proactive underwriting reviews with Senior Underwriters and Team Leaders to ensure that business is assessed correctly, and terms and conditions, as well as premiums, are set in accordance with all risk factors.• Conduct file audits for adherence to underwriting authority, underwriting guidelines, file documentation, and adherence to service standards. Recommend corrective measures as required/appropriate.• Liaise with underwriting and claims team leaders to assist with onboarding, training, and day-to-day management of underwriting.• Develop, maintain and refine rating tools and metrics, guidelines and authority letters.• Produce reports with both qualitative and quantitative analysis in a timely manner on a monthly and quarterly basis, as well as ad hoc when required.• Work closely with the Claims Manager to ensure claims are handled efficiently and aligned with policy wording.• Work with the CEO to manage facultative and treaty reinsurance placements.• Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with existing and new clients as well as referral business streams.• Prepare quarterly board reports and participate in sub-committee meetings.Qualifications• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required• Insurance industry designation (i.e., CPCU, ACII) required• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in insurance or reinsurance required• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in people management• Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance across all lines of business• Demonstrated working knowledge of underwriting procedures, guidelines, and authority levels• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word & Outlook• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and assignments• Ability to relate and interact with a range of clients and use diplomacy, tact, and discretion when dealing with sensitive matters• Strong sense of urgency, practicality, and integrity with the ability to handle and balance multiple priorities with excellent time management skills• High degree of initiative; cooperative spirit and ability to work independently as well as in a team-focused environment
