Job Details

Join our Subsurface Engineering Team and become a vital contributor to shaping the future of bp’s energy exploration and production! As a Reservoir Evaluation Engineer, you will apply your knowledge and expertise in providing dependable reservoir descriptions and well test analysis interpretations to the Upstream teams to allow optimized investment decisions and effective reservoir management in our Operated assets. Your impact will directly influence investment strategies, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.

Key Accountabilities:

• Generate high-quality well test plans and interpret the pressure transient responses, conduct the history matching/inversion, generate permeability distributions, and advise the team on further pressure monitoring opportunities for subsurface uncertainties reduction.

• Be a key subsurface team member on operated Azerbaijan business units providing dependable reservoir descriptions that lead to optimised investment decisions, robust well operations, and effective reservoir management to maximise hydrocarbon recovery at minimum operating cost.

• Interpret open-hole logs, design and monitor production logs to infer phase distributions, determine in-situ relative permeability, identify inflow/outflow locations and provide conclusions about the integrity of well components.

• Participate in short and long-term integrated reservoir modelling studies through characterising the field properties, performing upscaling activities, simulation runs and validating model performances against historical production data to provide accurate forecasts of reservoir performance.

• Undertake peer reviews, champion best practice applications, mentor junior engineers, and assure the integrity of petrotechnical databases.

Essential Education:

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Geoscience.

Essential Experience and Job Requirements:

• Experience as a Reservoir Engineer in dynamic data acquisition, formation testing, well test design, planning and interpretation, log interpretation, and subsurface uncertainty assessment.

• Hands-on experience and deep understanding of pressure transient analysis software (e.g. Saphir, Pansystem, Kappa Ecrin).

• Advanced experience in reservoir simulation modelling. Experience using Petrel-RE, Eclipse or other relevant tools preferred.

• Experience with production logging tools (PLT) and interpretation to understand inflow/outflow profile, phase distributions and completion integrity assessment is desirable.

• Experience integrating multiple datasets to create holistic and consistent reservoir descriptions (e.g., seismic attributes, core data, well logs, production history, pressure transient tests).

• Familiarity with economic evaluation techniques to demonstrate business value creation.

• Clear communication skills with an ability to influence, collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.

Desirable Criteria:

• Proven application of uncertainty assessment to drive optimal development and management of resources.

• Good awareness of industry standards and regulatory requirements for field development.

• Professional certifications or memberships relevant to reservoir engineering.
