This includes overseeing the implementation of primary health care programs, maternal and child health, nutrition, mental health, infectious disease control, and capacity building activities. S/he will ensure that all programs are implemented in accordance with international standards, local guidelines, and International Medical Corps policies and procedures. The Medical Coordinator will also provide technical support and guidance to medical staff, develop project proposals, manage budgets, and represent International Medical Corps at relevant forums and meetings.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/SCOPE OF WORKTechnical Leadership:Provide technical leadership and guidance to all medical programs, ensuring alignment with international standards, local guidelines, and International Medical Corps policies.Stay informed about the latest medical guidelines, standards, and best practices and adapt program strategies accordingly.Program Management:Oversee the implementation of all medical activities, ensuring that they are carried out effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with the project plans and budgets.Develop and maintain project work plans, procurement plans, and budget tracking tools.Ensure timely and accurate reporting on project activities and progress.Work closely with the M&E team to monitor and evaluate program outcomes and impact.Staff Supervision and Training:Supervise and mentor medical staff, including doctors, nurses, and other health professionals.Identify training needs and develop and implement training programs to build the capacity of medical staff.Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to staff.Coordination and Representation:Represent International Medical Corps at relevant coordination meetings, forums, and with local authorities.Liaise with other humanitarian actors, UN agencies, and donors to ensure coordination of medical activities.Advocate for the needs of the communities served by International Medical Corps and ensure that their voices are heard.Budget Management:Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that expenditures are in line with approved budgets and financial guidelines.Track expenses and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.Quality Assurance:Ensure that all medical activities are carried out in accordance with international standards and local guidelines.Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.Conduct regular site visits to monitor program activities and provide feedback to staff.Reporting:Prepare timely and accurate reports on program activities, outcomes, and challenges.Submit reports to the Field Coordinator and HQ in accordance with International Medical Corps reporting guidelines.Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.Compliance & EthicsPromotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity. Communicates these values to staff and ensures they are an ongoing part of their daily work.Other duties as assigned.
