About the job

Our client based in Salalah is looking to hire a GM HR who would report to the DCEO. The GM HR have a key executive and leadership role in the organization. This involves advising and interpreting company policy, Omani labor law, and providing strategic direction for the human resources component of the overall management of the company. This position advises the DCEO and other members of management on issues relating to employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and other areas of responsibility. The position also oversees key administrative functions related to Human Resources and General Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Plans the strategic direction of the department, aligning it with the overall business plan and strategy of the company.
  • Provides the key contact for the company with the Ministry of Labor.
  • Chairs the Policy Council, providing guidance and practical applications experience to the discussions on policy.
  • Ensures that all employees are provided equal opportunity, fair and consistent application of policy, regardless of nationality or citizenship.
  • Recommends solutions and advises management on significant employee relations matters.
  • Directs the administration of the compensation system and methodology, ensuring consistent practices.
  • Approves general administrative documents, including employment contracts, status changes (job title, salary grade, pay), separations from employment, and other related matters.
  • Provides a key liaison with the community, as it may relate to the company overall or to some aspect of the human resources function.
  • Oversees the General Administrative Office and its personnel.
  • Keeps fully informed of changes in labor or employment law matters.
  • Researches human resources issues, seeks out comparative data, utilizing survey instruments or other applicable vehicles for such research and analysis.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Education:Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in human resources, business administration, behavioral science, or management.

Experience:Requires at least ten years of general human resources or related work, with an emphasis in organizational design and planning, employment, labor law, employee relations, compensation, and benefits. Must have at least five years of managerial experience, preferably in the private sector.

Specialized Knowledge:

Must be thoroughly familiar with Oman labor and employment law and practices.

Requires a thorough understanding of investigative methods and principles.

Requires a complete and thorough understanding of international management standards and principles.
