The City of Houston Planning & Development Department is seeking a highly motivated and experienced City Planner to join our team. As a City Planner, you will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and developing recommendations related to land use, zoning, and development regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of urban planning principles, excellent communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

Conduct research and analyze data related to land use, zoning, and development trends.

Prepare and present reports, maps, and other visual aids to communicate planning recommendations to the public and decision-makers.

Review and evaluate development proposals for compliance with city regulations and policies.

Provide technical assistance and guidance to developers, residents, and other stakeholders on planning and development matters.

Participate in public meetings and workshops to gather input on planning issues and development proposals.

Collaborate with other city departments and agencies on planning initiatives and projects.

Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in urban planning.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, or a related field.

Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a city planner or related position.

Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and development processes.

Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills.

Proficiency in GIS software and other planning tools.

AICP certification preferred.
