Job Summary:\n\nThe Central Processing Technician II (CPT II) decontaminates, disinfects/sterilizes and reassembles complex instrumentation according to manufactures guidelines and facility procedures.\n\nThe CPT II works under direct supervision in a cooperative manner.\n\nCompletion of Sterile Processing certification required\n\nEducation Requirements:\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.Completion of Sterile Processing certification required.\n\nExperience Requirements:\nOne (1) year central sterile supply processing and/or operating room experience required.\n\nLicense/Certification Requirements:\n\nCertified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).\nRequired Skills:\nAbility to maintain a sterile field and wear proper attire per the department policy.Ability to decontaminate instrumentation and equipment with knowledge of current cleaning solutions and testing required.Knowledge of assembly for instrumentation, and current techniques for proper packaging to prevent contamination.Understands the current recommended sterilization practices as identified by the CDC, OSHA and AAMI including current disinfection standards.Ability to read sterilization print outs/indicators, monitor results, and pull unacceptable load, with proper notification to supervisor/leadership.Operates sterilization equipment (Steam and Sterrad), as trained according to manufacture recommendations.\nJob-Specific Responsibilities:\nOperates sterilization equipment (Steam and Sterrad), as trained according to manufacture recommendations.\nReports needed repairs or non-functioning equipment immediately.\nChecks supplies on a regular basis. Orders and stocks supplies as needed.\nMaintain all crash carts in the hospital and affiliate buildings.\nEnsures proper and effective use of Personal Protective Equipment and adherence to CDC/OSHA Guidelines including Standard Precautions\nWorks with staff to implement new concepts as identified through PI teams, safety committees or supervisory/managerial directive.
