Position Overview:

The Area Manager is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and operational excellence of assigned branches within a specific geographic area. This role entails providing leadership, coaching, and support to Branch Managers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, maintaining portfolio quality, and fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

•Provide strong leadership and strategic direction to Branch Managers and staff within the assigned area, aligning activities with the overall goals of BRAC Microfinance Uganda.

•Supervise and mentor Branch Managers, offering guidance on branch operations, sales strategies, and people management, to optimize branch performance.

•Drive deposit mobilization and disbursement of loans through various products while managing business targets in line with organizational guidelines, contributing to the expansion of financial services in the region.

•Monitor and control the loan portfolio quality across all assigned branches, identifying and addressing potential risks while implementing appropriate corrective actions to maintain a healthy portfolio.

•Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, implementing effective risk management strategies to mitigate operational risks.

•Implement business expansion plans in collaboration with the management team, assessing new market opportunities and developing strategies to enhance market penetration and client outreach.

•Manage branch audits effectively and implement recommendations in consultation with senior management.

•Develop strategies to enhance market penetration and client outreach within the designated area, contributing to the growth and sustainability of BRAC Microfinance Uganda.

Safeguard the interest and assets of BRAC Microfinance and ensure a zero-tolerance approach to bribery, fraud, and corruption.

Safeguard sensitive data and information belonging to BRAC Microfinance and prevent it from unauthorized disclosure to third parties. Any sharing/disclosure to a third party should strictly comply with the BRAC Microfinance guidelines and procedure.

Skills & Competencies

•Proven ability to provide leadership and strategic direction.

•Strong understanding of branch operations, financial management, and credit risk assessment.

•Ability to drive deposit mobilization and loan disbursement effectively.

•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.

•Sound understanding of financial compliance and risk management practices.

Required Qualification:

•Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field.

•At least 5 years of experience in Microfinance Operations, with a focus on team management.
