Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse at Life Roseacres Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and quality patient care to meet the needs of the patients.

Critical Outputs

Effective nursing care delivery and quality

Ensure implementation and maintenance of standards of nursing care

Participate in the planning and evaluation of nursing care

Provide health education to patients and significant others

Maintain patient safety by adhering to safety standards and infection control principles

Effective infection control practices

Effective management of medication according to hospital policy

Accurate record keeping and documentation

Effective communication with patients, doctors and other healthcare professionals

Effective utilisation of resources

Maintain all equipment and ensure that equipment is functional

Manage stock and supplies effectively

Maintain a clean and safe environment

Effective people management

Supervise and mentor junior staff

Participate in unit meetings and training sessions

Act as a role model for other staff

Promote teamwork and collaboration

Effective self-management

Take responsibility for own professional development

Maintain competence in clinical skills and knowledge

Adhere to the Life Healthcare Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards

Requirements

Relevant qualification (Diploma/Degree in Nursing)

Registration with SANC

Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous

Basic knowledge of nursing principles and practices

Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively as part of a team
