In recent years, Venezuela has been in a state of social, political and economic crisis. While the centre-stage is held by the latter, insufficient emphasis has been placed on the nuance of the increased armed violence faced by local populations, whether perpetrated by state or non-state armed groups, national or transnational criminal groups, and local incidence of violence. A number of people have been displaced by violence and this number has not been seen to subside.
