Job Summary

Provides software hardware and network support for PCs, other workstations and their peripherals for example, printers, scanners and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones in a network environment. These activities span across Sagicor Life, Sagicor Life EC, Sagicor General, Sagicor Finance Inc and Barbados Farms.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Installs and troubleshoots computer hardware: Ensures all new and modified hardware installations meet user requirements, estimated deadlines, and manufacturer’s standards. Troubleshoots computer hardware to determine cause of problem and implement corrective measures.
  • Installs and troubleshoots computer software: Ensures all new and modified application installations meet user requirements, estimated deadlines, vendor and corporate standards. Troubleshoots computer software to determine cause of problem and implement corrective measures.
  • Provides technical support for users at all levels inclusive of directors, executives and senior management: Ensures that standards are met for problem response time and problem resolution time. Ensures that users are kept informed of issues affecting their workstations.
  • Provides video and teleconferencing support.
  • Maintains company computers and peripherals: Ensures that standards are met for; percentage of workstations in proper working order. User down time is kept at minimum; and the location and configuration of all workstations and peripherals can be accounted for.
  • Provides communication cabling and connectivity support: Ensures network cabling is done as per technical standard, aesthetically pleasing, and aids proper management.
  • Provides guidance for IT equipment purchases based on business needs. Communicates and coordinates with vendors for the procurement, servicing and repairs of computer hardware and accessories.
  • Manages all assigned incidents and customer requests from receipt to resolution and closure. Ensures service level agreements are met.
  • Travels between local offices and off island to Sagicor offices to provide technical support.
  • Provides after hour support whenever required.
  • Executes departmental administrative tasks.
  • Provides first level support for Voice Over Internet Phones (VOIP) equipment.
  • Asset Management– ensures that any changes due to inventory are reflected accurately here inclusive of user management on all Sagicor systems.
  • Assists with Networking Infrastructure Management i.e. switches, routers and access points, UPS. Includes following deployment standards of cable management, labeling and security.
  • Provides support for company issued Mobile devices (Phones/Tablet). Assists only with network connectivity for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) configurations.
  • Disposal of equipment according to company security policy.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills Required

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting networked workstations and PC applications.
  • Working knowledge of hardware and software applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication and good presentation skills.
  • Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain all of the software applications and peripheral equipment used at the company.
  • Must have strong communication and training skills and be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • A high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and operating system software.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good administrative and communication skills.
  • Previous similar experience within a financial services environment would be an asset.
