The studio focus is on the development of sculptural and functional work primarily in wood. The design and making of pieces is seen as a fluid process resulting in work with a high level of aesthetic and structural resolve. The work is exported internationally.

Job Description:

The role of the Furniture maker will be to work closely with the designer and other makers from initial concept development to finished piece. They will be expected to work on a large variety of projects from domestic furniture to large scale sculptural installations. The successful candidate will have a good ability to solve technical problems while also holding a range of woodworking skills to produce objects to the highest standard. A sympathetic understanding of the studio’s unique design philosophy will be necessary, while an eagerness to learn and expand ones understanding of making processes is paramount.

Responsibilities/ Duties

-Work as part of a team to produce work of the highest quality using innovative techniques.

-Take direction and complete tasks within a set timeframe.

-Contribute to the studios creative thinking through proposal of thoughtful and original design solutions.

-The ability to complete tasks on time and to a high standard. The ability to work independently.

Requirements

(Skills & Qualifications)

-Ability to make and read CAD drawings and to produce cutting lists.

-Ability to use proficiently; standard woodworking machinery and tools both a traditional and creative / contemporary manner.

-Excellent analytical and organisation skills.

-An interest and knowledge of the subtitles of using hardwood.

-Excellent problem solving skills.
