About the job
The role will be responsible for overseeing strategic growth, client relationships, and operational performance. Key responsibilities include developing and executing sales and business development strategies, managing and mentoring a sales team, negotiating large contracts, and ensuring seamless service delivery across contract logistics, air, sea, land freight etc. A successful candidate must have extensive industry experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of exceeding revenue targets.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement long-term strategies for business growth in contract logistics and freight forwarding.
Sales and Business Development:
- Drive sales to achieve company targets and objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities and build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Conduct sales presentations and negotiate large, complex contracts.
Team Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a sales and operations team.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to achieve sales goals.
- Foster a high-performance sales culture.
Operational Oversight:
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery and meet client expectations.
- Oversee the coordination of complex logistics chains, from origin to destination.
- Utilize data-driven solutions for planning and real-time monitoring.
Financial Acumen:
- Monitor and manage team and individual performance against targets.
- Provide sales forecasts, reports, and insights to senior management.
- Ensure profitability of solutions and contracts.
Market Presence:
- Collaborate on marketing and promotional activities.
- Attend industry events to generate leads and increase brand visibility.
Required skills and qualifications
- Experience:Minimum of 10-15 years in logistics, contact logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain, with a proven track record in sales and a history of exceeding targets.
- Sales Expertise:Significant B2B sales experience, specifically in freight forwarding and contract logistics.
- Industry Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of global trade routes,international customs procedures, shipping documentation, and Incoterms.
- Technical Proficiency:Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with ERP, TMS, and other freight management systems is often required.
- Leadership:Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Communication:Excellent communication and negotiation skills are crucial for dealing with clients and internal teams.
- Analytical Skills:Ability to analyze complex logistics requirements and formulate profitable solutions.
