About the job
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Digital Engineer to lead the development, integration, production support, and maintenance of firmware across complex systems and subsystems. This UAE-based role is ideal for an engineer with strong expertise in FPGA and SoC firmware development, particularly within defense or aerospace environments.
You’ll be responsible for full lifecycle firmware development, simulation, testing, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, software, and PCB design teams. The role demands hands-on experience, minimal ramp-up time, and the ability to maintain and improve legacy systems.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Development
Develop and implement firmware in VHDL for entry-level FPGA and SoC devices, including CPLDs like Max10.
Create board support packages and peripheral interfaces.
Ensure compliance with RTCA DO-254 where applicable.
Lead full lifecycle development from concept to implementation.
Simulation & Testing
Build automated test benches for firmware verification.
Debug and test FPGA/SoC systems, resolving issues at the PCB assembly level.
FPGA PCB Design Support
Collaborate with E-CAD and PCB teams to design and review digital circuits.
Ensure firmware compatibility with electronic components.
Test and debug mixed-signal PCB assemblies.
Software Collaboration & Embedded C
Write embedded C code to interface firmware with software on SoC systems.
Work closely with software engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
Documentation & Standards Compliance
Produce and maintain documentation aligned with defense and aerospace standards, including DO-178 where applicable.
Ensure all firmware requirements, design descriptions, and test documents meet industry and military standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
5–8 years of hands-on experience in FPGA firmware development, preferably in defense or aerospace.
Strong proficiency in VHDL and embedded C programming.
Experience with Intel Altera and/or AMD Xilinx FPGAs and CPLDs (e.g., Cyclone, Zynq7000, Max10).
Familiarity with DO-254 and DO-178 standards.
Ability to debug digital and analogue circuits at PCB level.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Practical, hands-on approach with minimal need for on-the-job training.
