Job DescriptionThe Special Projects Department is seeking to appoint a Custodian Lead. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, working 40 hours per week at the Apia Samoa Temple and the successful candidate will be required from this location. This position reports to the Temple Facilities Manager.As a Custodian Lead, your responsibility is to take care of and protect the sanctity, cleanliness and beauty of the inside of the temple to allow members to work, worship, teach, learn, gather for prayer, make covenants and participate in sacred ordinances, in an environment that is of the Lord’s standard.ResponsibilitiesClean and care for all assigned areas, ensuring they meet the pristine standards of the Lord’s house.Become a positive contribution and member of a unified team.Maintain open and clear communications with those you work with, making sure to report any concerns, queries, hazards or damages to your supervisor.
Demonstrate being prompt, diligent, consistent, and willing. Clean, move or replace rugs, furniture, draperies, chandeliers, and other items as needed. When requested, aid in setting up meeting rooms and other areas.
Use cleaning agents and chemicals responsibly, adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate safety equipment.Skilfully use motorised equipment such as vacuums and buffers, as well as hand tools and other motorised tools, to achieve exceptional cleaning results.Undergo safety and equipment training to ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency in your work.QualificationsCustodial experience. Proficient in custodial procedures, supplies, equipment usage and maintenance. Skilled in operating equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners, vacuums, and other motorised tools.Able to lift, up to 25kgs, push loaded carts, bend, crawl, reach and climb ladders, able to work 8-hour shifts.
Able to follow verbal and written instructions in English and able to ask clarifying questions when needed.Legally able to live and work in Samoa. Not essential but very helpful prior experience in all or any of the following:Cleaning marble, stained glass, brass, carpets, tile, grout, and be able to work in very high reach places (can conquer heights!)
