As part of the Java Group, Victor Energy has over 50 years of experience building some of Canada's largest electrical infrastructure projects. And as our team grows as projects are beginning to take off, we are seeking a Field Safety Advisor to provide support to our project execution team.In this position you will apply your experience in OHS leadership, safe work methodology, and standardized best practices, to support our projects and trade staff in Alberta & Manitoba.This position is a field-based position.RequirementsExperience with orientations, inspections, incident reportingMonitor credentials and qualifications to ensure compliance for employees and subcontractorsIdentify and mitigate hazards at site including walkthroughs as appropriateEnsuring employees coming on site have the proper training tickets including fall protection, equipotential bonding and grounding, First Aid, WHMIS/GHS, etcDetermine ways of reducing risksCompiling statistics and writing reportsAble to work 21 & 7 shift on projects across CanadaYour background and credentials would include:5 + years of field OHS Leadership experience in the energy sector, preference to utility constructionMinimum, active National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), professional accreditations (CRSP,CUSP,CHSE etc.) are an assetExcellent organizational & time management skills, with the strong ability to work independently and / or as part of a teamProficient in Microsoft suite of programsResponsibilities:Assist with the development and implementation of project specific safety plans & trainingEnsure compliance with applicable provincial health and safety legislation, client specific requirements, and company policyDevelop and implement project specific Emergency Response Plan (ERP)Provide support in the development of hazard assessments prior to project start, and during the life cycle of the project for medium to high level risk activitiesAssist personnel in developing and reviewing Safe Job Plans when requiredComplete H&S training and orientations for applicable personnelMonitor subcontractor safety performance on the projects and conduct periodic auditsPerform audits and additional inspections as requiredVerify that corrective actions identified during inspections are implementedEvaluate H&S inspection reports to identify unsatisfactory performance trendsProvide support and recommendations with the incident investigation processMaintain HSE documentation (inspections, audits, Tailboards, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Toolbox and HSE Meetings, etc.);Attend client meetings, subcontractor start-up meetings, daily/weekly various safety meetingsMaintains positive and professional working relationships while interacting and communicating with all levels of workers and management, clients, consultants, visitors and the community to promote safetyCollaborate with the internal WCB Claims Coordinator on injuries and ensure the implementation and tracking of the Return-to-Work ProgramPerform other related duties as assignedBenefitsExtended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision)Group RRSPGroup Life - AD&D - Critical Illness InsuranceTraining & DevelopmentEmployee Assistance Program - Counseling
