Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Programme Specialist, the Programme Associate provides leadership in execution of services in the Programme team ensuring effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and integrity of services. The Programme Associate promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.

The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with the Operations, Programme and projects’ teams in the CO and UNDP HQs as required for resolving complex finance-related issues and information delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure effective and efficient provision of administrative support to the programme implementation, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
Compliance with corporate rules and regulations.
Assists in the preparation and monitoring of projects’ budgets.
Assists in monitoring financial resources and accounting to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial reports
Full compliance of financial activities with UNDP rules, regulations, policies and strategies; effective internal control, proper functioning of a client-oriented financial resources management system.
Prepare routine correspondence, memoranda and reports in accordance with UNDP’s requirements.
Assists in preparing Terms of References for Consultants.
Assists in logistic preparation for workshops, meetings etc.
Manage routine administrative tasks, such as maintaining project files, answering telephone inquiries, and sorting and distributing mail.
Organizes and maintains data and information, creating files and ensuring the smooth functioning of the programme in line with Country Office established procedures.
Effective support to strategic planning, programming and monitoring of the Country Programme, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
Supports the monitoring and evaluation process of the Country Programme, including contributing to the preparation of progress reports, and organizing monitoring and evaluation activities.
Monitors project implementation status and ensures timely reporting to the Programme Specialist.
Assist the Programme Specialist with collecting data and gathering information related to UNDP’s programmes and activities in the country, compiling and analysing statistical data, preparing reports, charts, and tables as required.
Supports the identification of sources of information related to programme planning and implementation.
Contributes to knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
Participation in the training for the operations/ projects staff on programme issues.
Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
Compiles lessons learned and best practices in programme implementation.
Ensures gender is effectively mainstreamed throughout the project implementation and the project complies with corporate gender strategy.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Secondary Education, preferably with specialized certification in Accounting and Finance. University Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Finance or related field would be desirable, but it is not a requirement.
Experience:
6 years of progressively responsible administrative or programme experience is required at the national or international level
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems.
Previous experience with a multilateral or international organization is desirable.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in oral and written English and Arabic is required.
