The position: The Product Data & Systems Supervisor’s primary function is to monitor and advise Data & Systems Technician I & II of their duties and aid in identify discrepancies between old and new engineering drawings. Assist w/ maintaining three systems (JDEdwards, Catia and Smarteam) with accurate information from engineering drawings. Notify engineers of inconsistencies of new and old parts. Investigate missing or incorrect part numbers and maintain a log of all transactions, part number changes and missing numbers.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Level I:

Translates Sales or customer specification into mechanical drawings for mass production.

Generates 3D models and drawings for final fabrication and production assemblies.

Reviews and checks production drawings.

Makes revision to BOM and drawings per specification or manager’s direction.

Performs product structure and design fit up analysis.

Generates bills of material for MRP system.

Provides technical assistance related to product design to other departments and material procurements.

Answers technical inquiries from Manufacturing, Sales Department, and Accounting.

Reviews Bills of Material and material specifications, completeness and correctness.

Reviews material specifications to satisfy customer’s specification.

Questions and suggests product specifications to Sales Department.

Proposes and suggests important engineering issues to Engineering Manager.

Solely determines engineering changes which do not require higher authority approval.

Mentoring of lesser experienced co-workers to build process and product knowledge is required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Level II

Higher degree of capability and proficiency in all aspects of performance as compared to Product Engineer I.

Solely determines engineering changes which do not require higher authority approval.

Mentoring of lesser experienced co-workers to build process and product knowledge is required.

Level III

Higher degree of capability and proficiency in all aspects of performance as compared to Product Engineer II.

Ability to check orders before order push.

Qualifications

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

Education: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or technology preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Technology

Skills:

High level of creativity, sound judgment, technical knowledge, excellent communication skills required.

Decision-making skills.

Knowledge of computers, measuring instruments such as gauges, test rigs, etc.

Software knowledge (AutoCAD, CATIA, SmarTeam, Word, Excel, Outlook).

Ability to adapt to evolving MRP/ERP system implementations.

Travel: As needed.

Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate while in the office. Plant environment includes large factory building with active trailer assembly processes, active industrial fabrication processes and storage of completed trailers on unpaved surfaces.
