Mayo Clinic is seeking a Medical Secretary to join the Orthopedics team in Jacksonville, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures for patients.

Answer phone calls, take messages, and respond to patient inquiries.

Greet patients and visitors, and direct them to the appropriate location.

Prepare and maintain patient charts and records.

Process referrals and authorizations.

Assist with insurance verification and billing.

Transcribe medical dictation.

Order supplies and equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of two years of experience as a medical secretary or administrative assistant.

Proficiency in medical terminology.

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
