Job Summary:
Assists with the production of consistently high quality and appealing meals according to menu specifications in all kitchen stations including Grill, Wok, Rotisserie and Specialty locations. Actively ensures the safe and clean production of food according to company guidelines in a professional and efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in the preparation of assigned stations by consistently adhering to standard operating procedures and the highest standards of quality.
• Efficiently manages all kitchen areas while consistently ensuring sanitation compliance
• Proficiently manages and sets up the assigned stations within the designated timeframe in accordance with Company’s service standards.
• Safely utilizes, maintains and accurately handles cooking equipment following approved safety practices and guidelines.
• Demonstrates the highest degree of Customer Relation skills.
• Supports inventory requirements through product verification of deliveries while communicating variances and or deviations with the designated team.
• Minimizes product waste through proactive product handling according to the guidelines.
• Prepares ingredients for station readiness as required utilizing appropriate tools and equipment.
• Responsible for stocking and cleaning stations by verifying that items are adequately supplied and ensures appropriate sanitation requirements are maintained during the work cycle.
• Effectively assists and executes the set up, serving and/or striking of menu items with assigned location. All assigned work locations should have the highest presentation appeal to guest as defined by BPCL policies and guidelines.
• Ensures the prompt preparation of orders per request in order of delivery and guest standards.
• Responsible for verifying product preparation per station requirements; reports discrepancies to superiors with immediate response.
• Complies with all safety rules and procedures.
• Fulfills such duties as required to ensure a safe, clean, productive and efficient operation. This is to include general cleanliness of all working areas.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent; Associate’s degree from Culinary Arts School/Academy is highly desirable.
• Minimum of two (2) year experience in a large, volume cooking environment, preferably in Cruise Line / Resort/ Hotel operation required.
• Minimum 1-2 years food-handling certificate with relevant practical experience is a definite plus.
• Working knowledge of general operation of cruise ship galley equipment and machinery.
• Good knife-handling skills and adeptness in using kitchen tools and equipment
Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to work independently with minimum or no supervision and communicate and act in a positive and proactive manner.
• Must possess a positive can do attitude; maintain high degree of professionalism in personal appearance and deportment; maintain positive composure and be receptive and responsive in taking directions.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to deal effectively with others. Must be able to foster harmonious working relationship between management, food services associates and other work team. Display tact in dealings with subordinates and customers.
• Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations and to manage own time effectively.
Other:
• Must meet pre-employment requirements including, but not limited to, drug testing, medical examinations and criminal background checks.
• Must be willing to travel for prolonged periods. Possess a valid Passport and other travel related document.
