Investment Analyst – Private EquityAstrapto Capital is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its private equity and merchant banking platform based in Hong Kong. Collectively, each one of the principals has, on average, close to 20 years of investment experience, with 4 of the principals having spent considerable time working in various investment functions at Goldman Sachs Hong Kong. Our principals include a retired Goldman partner, an ex-CEO/CFO of a multi-billion US/China listed Chinese media company, a former Vice Chairman of Bank of America, as well as two founders of successful investing entities in PE and Real Estate investing.By joining the team, you will be working closely with experienced investment professionals with extensive track record and deep regional expertise across the Greater China and North Asia regions.
As the Investment Analyst, you will play a key role across the entire investment spectrum – from performing in-depth industry analysis and due diligence, developing the investment thesis, and providing recommendations to the Investment Committee to executing transactions and portfolio management. In addition to direct investments, Astrapto Capital also provides private financing, advisory, and investment management services. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to develop a long-term career in private equity.ResponsibilitiesPerform in-depth sector research and analysis to understand the attractiveness and outlook of an industry, through both primary (e.g., expert interviews, management meetings) and secondary sources (e.g., market and sector reports)Provide initial investment review and screening of prospective investment opportunities for the firm as well as tracking of the firm’s investment pipelineWork closely with the team in structuring and execution of investment, financing, legal documentation, deal negotiation, post-investment managementDevelop complex dynamic financial models, valuation, returns analysis, including DCF, LBO, precedent transactions, and comparable company analysisPrepare investment documentation and communicate key findings and recommendations to the investment committeeRequirementsThe candidate is motivated, driven, results-oriented, a team player and wishes to thrive and learn in an entrepreneurial and dynamic company2 to 4 years of work experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, or direct investment at leading firmsStrong financial modeling and analysis skills, prior experience in handling complex financial models is highly preferableMinimum a bachelor’s degree from a top tier university ideally in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related disciplinesExcellent command of written and spoken English and Mandarin
