Instrumentation Technician Full-time Job

Position: Instrumentation Technician

Location: Oil Field, Northern Iraq

Contract Duration: 2 years renewable

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs preventative maintenance, routine repairs, modifications and replacements on all types of pneumatic and electronic instrumentation, equipment, systems and devices. Works under general supervision. This is a rotating shift work position in a desert environment with possible extreme temperatures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Install, repair, calibrate, and maintain process control instrumentation.

Inspect, test, troubleshoot and repair electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.

Read loop drawings and instrument schematics. Diagnose and correct instrument malfunctions.

Test faulty equipment and apply knowledge of functional operation of electronic units and systems to diagnose cause of malfunction.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on control systems.

Perform installation of new instrumentation per manufacturer’s guidelines and company best practices.

Use electronic test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, multi-meters and pressure generating devices.

Maintain detailed maintenance and calibration records.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Complete tasks under minimal supervision.

Ensure adherence to established safety procedures in the work area.

Promotes safety awareness and safe performance of duties within the section.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years related experience

Knowledge of computer networks.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Extensive experience with troubleshooting, calibration, repair and maintenance of control systems.

Proficiency using test equipment.

Working knowledge of PLC / DCS systems. Siemens and ABB products are in use at site.

Must be able to read loop diagrams and instrument schematics.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Diploma or Trade qualification in instrumentation or related subject.
