Job DescriptionDemonstrates integration of the unique knowledge and technical skills required for thespecialty as per the role specific clinical practice definition in Appendix 1 and the SEHAcompetency and training matrix.Technical skills required for this area as outlined in Clinical Competency and TrainingMatrix and/or the department/unit Scope of Service.ICU nurses provide specialized care for critically ill adults withlife-threatening conditions such as trauma, sepsis, respiratory failure, burns,and multi-organ dysfunction. Their scope includes advanced monitoring, emergency response,mechanical ventilation, vasopressor and dialysis therapies, complexpost-operative care, and skilled use of specialized equipment such asventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, feeding tubes, catheters, andcentral lines to optimize patient outcomesResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with, but not limited to, the Manager / Charge Nurse / CRN, identifiesown professional learning needs and develops a learning plan as required.Participates in self and peer evaluation including reflective practice.Initiates or participates in clinical research that contributes to continual improvement instandards of care.Develops and maintains own Professional PortfolioObtains accredited and non-accredited Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Units incompliance with DOH requirements.QualificationsBachelor's degree in nursing AND DOH license or eligibility.
