Murphy is seeking talentedGraduate Engineers(Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical),Graduate Quantity Surveyors, andGraduate SHESQ Advisors(Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) to join our team. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals across a range of projects, gaining invaluable hands-on experience, mentorship, and the support needed to work toward your professional qualifications.
About The Programme
As a Murphy graduate, you’ll be part of a structured two-year programme designed to accelerate your professional development. Working on diverse projects across Ireland and the UK, you’ll gain exposure to different areas of engineering, quantity surveying, and SHESQ.
Graduate Quantity Surveyors will develop skills in commercial management, cost control, contract management, and procurement, while Graduate Engineers will gain practical experience across various aspects of engineering projects. Graduate SHESQ Advisors will focus on ensuring safe working environments, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance across project sites.
Key Responsibilities For Graduate Engineers
- Accurate setting out of works and maintaining dimensional control.
- Resolving technical issues and conducting inspections in line with project plans.
- Producing survey data and as-built documentation.
- Ensuring safety compliance and maintaining quality management records.
- Liaising with site management and using up-to-date project documentation.
- Supporting site management in tracking progress, updating KPIs, and assisting with monthly valuations.
Key Responsibilities For Graduate Quantity Surveyors
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, valuations, and financial reports, and support project budget management.
- Manage procurement schedules, assisting in sourcing materials and subcontractor packages.
- Administer and monitor subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring contract compliance and handling variations.
- Conduct site visits to track progress, measure work completed and maintain accurate project records.
- Work closely with site management to ensure on-time, budget-conscious project delivery and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support contract administration, including change management, risk analysis, and preparation of client-facing cost reports.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with Safety, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems (OHSAS 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- Conduct site inductions and produce monthly safety performance statistics.
- Champion behaviour-based safety initiatives through the Culture Development Programme.
- Perform site audits and inspections to ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Stay updated on safety legislation and ensure personnel have required training records.
- Investigate incidents and non-conformances, completing necessary reports.
- Identify safety impacts and implement appropriate controls.
- Maintain accessible safety and environmental records.
- Prepare and deliver toolbox talks and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety documentation for compliance.
- A relevant third-level degree (minimum 2.2) in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or SHESQ-related fields.
- Construction or engineering experience is desirable but not essential.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD (for Engineers).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Full, clean driving licence (required due to the nature of the role).
We have projects across Ireland and the UK, offering a range of site-based and office-based opportunities. As part of the programme, you may rotate between projects, gaining exposure to various aspects of engineering, quantity surveying, and SHESQ.
