JOB PURPOSE:
To lead and coordinate all aspects of gender and protection considerations mainstreamed in all Program interventions and projects within an Area Program (AP), support communities in prevention and response of gender based violence (GBV) as well as promoting children protection as per minimum standards guidelines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Direction, Program Design, and Implementation Support:
Provide technical support and capacity building to World Vision Area Program field teams to integrate gender, and child protection, in line with best practice
Develop program approaches that facilitate safe and meaningful participation and leadership among vulnerable women, girls and other groups experiencing marginalization or at heightened risk of violence in decision making and program implementation.
Support programs to implement, monitor and evaluate strategies for mainstreaming protection, gender equality, and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse across all interventions
Provide support to program teams to contextualize global and national technical guidance on mainstreaming protection and gender into their areas of intervention
Design tools for data collection, surveys, need assessments, program monitoring and program evaluations, in the area of child protection and GBV interventions
Facilitate linkages with partners, communities, faith leaders and government authorities and support World Vision project interventions at Area Program levels.
In coordination with other project officers in AP conduct child protection awareness-raising activities as per detailed implementation plan, while using recommended key messages, for beneficiaries in World Vision projects.
Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation:
Track gender-specific project activities and develop reports to relevant WVI Iraq, regional, and global bodies.
Conducting program site visits to observe program progress in line with guidelines for child protection/safeguarding policy standards and to give ongoing mentoring to staff/volunteers involved
Ensuring all field-level implementation complies with WV’s policies, donor requirements and country regulations.
Responsible for proper collection of data regarding Gender- Based violence through available or specified data systems or means for monitoring
Contribute to knowledge management, through documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
Document Child Protection related progress through periodical reports.
Capacity Building:
Developing staff knowledge base by creating modules related to child protection and Gender – Based Violence
Contribute to development of innovative training manuals and other resources appropriate for project activities on Child Protection in development context.
Organizing the training session in relation to child protection at the AP.
Prepare all kind of IEC Materials
Conduct child protection & PSEA Trainings and workshops to staff members
Networking, Coordination & Representation
Identify the key advocacy/gender policy-related concerns/messages appropriate at the national and Area Program level
Build a network of gender, child protection advocates at national and Area Program levels
Coordination with local CBO's/CSO's related to Gender and Child protection for partnership
Engage actively in Area program coordination meetings. To coordinate Gender equality , equity and child protection related meetings.
Actively participate at all stages of the CP Program Cycle (Assessments, Designing, Implementation, M&E).
Promote awareness of relevant international, regional, and local human rights standards and legislation
Child and Adult Safeguarding:
Carry out duties in accordance with the organization’s Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and safeguarding polices;
Report any actual or suspicion of PSEA incidents or safeguarding breaches to relevant focal point in the organization immediately, in accordance with the PSEA and Safeguarding reporting pathway procedures.
Ensure that all project stakeholders understand and comply with WVI’s safeguarding requirements and ensure safety and well-being of children and adults at risk. And provide regular briefing to communities and partner organization on child protection policy including reporting mechanism
