Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller to join our Finance department in Oulu. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the project controlling and reporting cycle, ensuring that up-to-date project reports are provided to company management. Additionally, you will support our ETL (Talend) system for transferring master data from operational systems into our data warehouse and create PowerBI reports tailored to different business unit needs.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating project files to ensure that they accurately reflect the financial performance of each project. This includes preparing detailed materials for both internal and group project reviews based on the key financial performance indicators such as Gross Margin, Revenue, and Cash Flow. You will be tasked with analyzing the actual costs incurred each month, identifying any deviations from forecasts, and providing clear explanations for these variances. Participation in project reviews is another key aspect of this role, where you will support the Project Manager by providing all required information and offering clear explanations of any changes in project cost elements. Additionally, you will be expected to contribute ideas to enhance the Project Controlling process, particularly in transitioning from Excel-based management to more robust system-based solutions. These financial tasks will account for around 70-80% of your working time.

In terms of data management and reporting, you will work closely with the ETL (Talend) system to transfer master data from various operational systems into the data warehouse environment. This involves preparing database tables and views for PowerBI reporting, tailored to the specific needs of different business units. Your role will require you to handle data from a variety of sources, including Oracle, PostreSQL, Excel/CSV files, and cloud-based systems such as MS-SQL and Azure PostreSQL. Strong SQL programming skills will be essential for managing these databases and generating reports, and your ability to create and manage PowerBI reports will be highly valued. These tasks will account for around 20-30% of your working time.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's or higher degree in Finance and have a minimum of two years of experience in a similar finance role. Experience in IT tasks that focus on Oracle, PostreSQL, MS-SQL, and Azure PostreSQL databases is also required.

Special Competencies:

We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of project accounting, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as advanced Excel skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities are crucial for this role, along with experience in creating PowerBI reports and proficiency in SQL programming. Excellent communication skills in Finnish and/or English are necessary, alongside a positive "Can-do" attitude, flexibility, resilience under pressure, and strong time management skills.

Business Knowledge:

A general understanding of project or manufacturing business models, particularly in delivering large systems and solutions to customers, is important for this role.

Tools:

You will be using financial tools such as Wintime and Accuna for reporting and budgeting, as well as Excel. The role also requires proficiency in IT tools, including Oracle, PostreSQL, Azure, and LEAN.
