Position Mission:
The Director of Ministry is responsible for owning the day-to-day of Needle’s Eye and growing the breadth and depth of Needle’s Eye gatherings, including events, cohorts, and small groups, which are central to achieving Needle’s Eye’s mission to build community and encourage and equip marketplace people to impact their workplaces with Jesus’ values, ethics and love. This person will identify, disciple, and empower volunteers, build and implement systems and structures, and collaborate with and delegate to team members and volunteer. Recruiting and developing leaders and volunteers who can facilitate the mission at events and within the cohorts and groups is a key part of the responsibility of this position, as well as challenging and equipping the leaders, volunteers, and members to the ever deeper spiritual maturity required to pursue real workplace impact and influence.
Needle’s Eye Ministries, Inc. is an interdenominational, non-profit organization whose aim is to see the Richmond marketplace transformed through Christians living out their faith at work. Today, Needle’s Eye is poised to move into its new headquarters and continue expanding its new initiatives focused on discipling and equipping marketplace people to be salt and light in the workplace. The Director of Ministry will serve a critical role in developing and implementing the strategies needed to take Needle’s Eye’s existing ministry deliverables and staff structures to the next level.
Major Focus and Responsibilities:
Strategically increase number and reach of cohort & group ministry - Work with current volunteer leaders to understand and embrace ministry mission and the potential for growth of their members. Strategically balance opportunity and need with capacity to support to multiply existing cohorts to accommodate new or existing constituents and identify unreached industries, professions, and professionals in the marketplace and launch new cohorts for those industries, professions, and demographics. Launch new groups as constituents are ready to increase their spiritual growth and workplace impact. Assist Executive Director and Director of Strategy in identification and development of appropriate content to be used in the cohorts and groups, then integrate the developed content into the cohorts and groups, with the goal.
Develop a sustainable model for identifying, developing and empowering spiritually mature and mission-aligned volunteers prepared for leadership within cohorts, the Board, small groups, and other aspects of NEM’s ministry - Ensure that events and podcasts are planned and implemented to promote defined quarterly or bi-annual themes. Ensure that events and digital content are aimed toward building community, growing spiritual hunger, and challenging marketplace men and women to more fully live and share their faith at work. Utilize staff and recruited volunteers to increase and ensure effective involvement.
Partner with the Executive Director and Director of Strategy to determine how to effectively lead, manage, and organize NEM’s groups, committees, partners and community relationships toward our unified mission - Design and implement structures for vision casting, leading, and supervision that are feasible given limited staff. Determine how to best create and sustain mutually beneficial partnerships with churches and other ministries and non-profit organizations. Identify and incorporate technology and systems to streamline organizational processes.
Office Manager and Digital Marketer as direct reports - Work with Office Manager to ensure that operations, administration, and bookkeeping are handled appropriately and accurately. Work with Manager of Communications and Development to ensure that all communications are accurate, timely, and effective.

5-10 years leadership experience; experience at the Director level strongly desired
Experience in the marketplace in a leadership capacity strongly desired
Leadership development expertise required
Capable to impact, influence, motivate and cultivate relationships with a broad spectrum of individuals from a variety of church denominations and business backgrounds
Ability to promote the spiritual growth needed in others to bring their faith to work with real impact
Experience in and ability to deeply disciple others; personal experience in being discipled
Expertise in group dynamics and group leadership required
Strategic thinker and planner
Personal discretion concerning information of ministry and individual relationships
Strong comprehension of the full gospel, theology of work, and the barriers to faith in the workplace
Proactive, self-directed and organized
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-aware and emotionally intelligent
Technology skills - Microsoft Office suite, email, internet and apps
