Role Reporting to the President, the Director of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across Rising Edge Group's US and Canadian operations, advancing a HSEQ vision and ensuring all aspects of our HSEQ program are compliant and delivered to the highest standard. This role will partner with executive and operational leadership to integrate standards and principles into business strategy, risk management and operational excellence. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing the company's safety culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, and driving continuous improvement across all departments.
The Director HSEQ will act as both a strategic leader and hands-on partner, developing and executing initiatives that minimize risk, enhance operational performance, and ensure Rising Edge consistently delivers safe, sustainable, and high-quality outcomes for clients, employees, and stakeholders. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive HSE and Quality Control strategies to support safety sensitive environments and project execution in the US and CanadaDevelop a long term HSEQ strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and valuesManage compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to health, safety and environmental stewardship across all company operationsLead the development and implementation of HSEQ policies, procedures, standards and reporting that promote best practices and ensure a safe and healthy workplaceIdentify and assess enterprise-level risk related to HSEQ, developing robust risk mitigation action plansFoster a culture of safety and quality by engaging employees at all levels to prioritize HSEQ initiativesReport regularly to the executive team regarding HSEQ performance, emerging trends, and areas for improvementOversee the HSE management system, ensuring continuous improvement through regular audits, assessments, and training initiativesManage and mentor HSEQ professionals, providing leadership and direction to the teamsImplement risk management programs, including hazard analysis, incident investigation, and corrective action planningCollaborate with cross-functional teams to embed HSEQ principles into all aspects of operations, including project planning and executionMonitor and analyze HSEQ metrics to identify trends, support decision making, evaluate program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiativesRepresent the organization in external HSEQ matters, including regulatory inspections, audits, and industry forumsStay abreast of industry developments, legislative changes, and emerging trends in HSE managementRequirementsQualificationsPost secondary degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field15+ years of experience in HSEQ leadership roles within the utilities, construction or renewable energy sectorProven track record of successfully implementing effective health, safety, and environmental programsExceptional knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental standards across North American jurisdictionsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressureOutstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all organizational levelsExcellent verbal and written communication skills to convey HSEQ concepts to diverse audiencesStrong organizational skills with a detail-oriented approach to project managementAbility to travel as required to various job sites and projectsProfessional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or equivalent are preferredValid driver's license and a clean driving record are requiredBenefitsBenefitsExtended Healthcare Plan (Medical, Disability, Dental & Vision)Paid Time Off BenefitsTraining & DevelopmentEmployee Assistance Program - CounselingRPP - Group RRSP
