Company Description
Community Gateway Association (CGA) is a not-for-profit community business, set up to meet the housing needs of people in Preston and the surrounding areas. A housing association providing high quality homes for people in need, CGA is also about creating friendly communities, where people want to live.
Our uniqueness centres on the fact that we were the first Housing Association based on the Community Gateway Model.
On the 28th November 2005 the "yes" vote signified the beginning of Community Gateway as a large-scale voluntary transfer organisation created by the transfer of Preston City Councils 6,500 properties.
The Gateway Model's primary aim is to place communities in Preston at the heart of our organisation. The objectives of the Community Gateway Model are:
- To generate community pride and vision through providing opportunities for local tenant and community involvement in decisions about homes and neighbourhoods at a pace right for them and on issues that matter to them.
- To establish a tenant democracy by enabling tenants to become members and owners of the organisation and, through that membership, get involved in decision-making.
- To generate a cultural change that brings colleagues and tenants together, where tenants lead and own the organisation working in partnership with CGA colleagues to deliver the quality homes and neighbourhoods they want.
At Gateway we are passionate about people. Our vision is: working together to provide homes and communities our tenants can be proud of, with services they value and trust. We have five key values that we demonstrate in everything we do:
We put tenants at the heart of all we do.
We do the right thing.
We own it.
We aim high.
We are one team.
