About The RoleThe Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation presents a dynamic and diverse portfolio where no day is the same. The position of Deputy Director-General (DDG), Environment and Heritage Policy and Programs provides the opportunity to shape impactful policy outcomes for Queenslanders while working with a committed and collaborative executive team.

As DDG, you will: Provide strategic leadership across major departmental and cross sector priorities that support whole of government objectives. Deliver authoritative and trusted advice on policy, legislation and program matters to the Minister, Director-General and Executive Leadership Team. Build and maintain high impact relationships with industry, conservation bodies and government partners to drive outcomes.

Oversee the delivery of major programs that contribute to long term environmental protection and sustainable growth. Inspire a high performing and collaborative workforce and reinforce DETSI's leadership behaviours. Shape a proactive work program and lead significant legislative, policy, and organisational change.The ideal candidateYou Will Be a Senior Executive Leader With a Strong Record Of Achievement In Strategic Reform And Be a Respected Leader In The Environment, Conservation, Resources, Agriculture Or Waste Sectors.

You Will Demonstrate A strong record of achievement in policy, legislation and large-scale program delivery. A dynamic leadership style that engages people, lifts performance and supports innovation and diversity. A confident, influential and collaborative communication approach, including proactive engagement with Ministers, executive leaders and stakeholders.

The capacity to navigate complex environments with clarity, foresight and sound judgement.
