About the Role
Living Goods is seeking a Data Analyst to join our growing Impact Measurement and Evidence team, and provide support to our programs in Uganda. The Data Analyst will be responsible for developing and managing data solutions that meet the data needs of program teams. This includes assisting in the design of data collection tools, designing of data management systems and reports, and maintaining data quality. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for providing data analysis support to program teams, including preparing reports and presentations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, experience with data management systems, and excellent communication skills. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, you will be expected to be nimble, flexible and collaborative in nature.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Senior Data Systems Manager, the Data Analyst will:
Data Collection and Management
Support the design and testing of data collection tools, ensuring that they are appropriate for the program, that they are of high quality, and that they are ethically sound.
Participate in Data Quality Assurance activities (DQAs) in the program as necessary. This includes reviewing data collection and management systems, providing training to data collectors, and conducting data audits.
Support the development and implementation of data management systems and processes.
Help manage, clean, and analyze data collected by Living Goods’ programs in Uganda, ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Work with program teams to understand their data needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
Develop and manage reports and dashboards that provide insights into program performance and impact.
Design and implement data analysis plans that address key research questions and program objectives.
Conduct statistical analysis of data and prepare reports and presentations that communicate findings effectively.
Present data findings in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including program staff, donors, and partners.
Participate in meetings with program teams and partners to share data findings and discuss implications for program implementation.
Data Governance
Promote the use of data to inform decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Work with other members of the Impact Measurement and Evidence team to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.
Ensure that data is stored securely and that access to data is restricted to authorized users.
Stay up-to-date on best practices in data management and analysis, and share this knowledge with other members of the team.
Stay up-to-date on data protection regulations in Uganda, and ensure that Living Goods’ data management practices are in compliance with these regulations.
Desired Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, public health, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree.
At least 2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in the context of international development.
Strong quantitative analysis skills, including experience with statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS).
Experience with data management systems (e.g., SQL, Access, Excel).
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present data findings in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with mobile data collection tools (e.g., CommCare, ODK) is an asset.
Experience in digital health is an asset.
Knowledge of data protection regulations in Uganda is an asset.
