Are you a strategic and partnership-oriented humanitarian professional ready to provide leadership to a transformation process in one of the world’s most complex operating environments? Danish Red Cross (DRC) is seeking a Country Manager for Myanmar to lead the country team and our long-standing partnership with the Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS). You will play a pivotal role in advancing localisation and shared leadership as part of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ (IFRC) “Way of Working” (WoW) transformation.About Danish Red Cross In MyanmarDanish Red Cross has been engaged in Myanmar since 2004, working in trusted partnership with MRCS to deliver humanitarian impact and build resilience among vulnerable communities.

Our cooperation focuses on health (including RMNCH and MHPSS), disaster preparedness and response, and humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected populations.As Myanmar becomes a priority context for operationalising shared leadership and localisation under the WoW initiative, DRC aims to model how international support can evolve — building on MRCS leadership, strengthening complementarity, and driving greater efficiency and coherence across the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.The position The Country Manager provides strategic leadership, representation, and overall management of DRC’s engagement in Myanmar. You will be DRC’s representative in-country and the primary link to MRCS, leading the country team, coordinating with partners, and ensuring that DRC’s programme portfolio contributes effectively to MRCS priorities and the shared RCRC Network agenda. You will also play a key role in strengthening Partners complementarity, and in the support of MRCS in driving the transformation process.Key Responsibilities Include Support MRCS in the Partners’ transformation journey, for the development and implementation of an operating model aligned with the WoW approach.

Providing strategic and operational leadership to the DRC country team (approx. 9 staff), fostering a collaborative, adaptive, and high-performing work environment. Overseeing the design, delivery, and financial management of the country programme portfolio, ensuring quality, accountability, and compliance. Representing DRC towards MRCS, IFRC, ICRC, Partner National Societies, donors, and the Danish Embassy, promoting DRC’s added value and partnership approach.

Driving resource mobilisation and strategic partnership development, in close coordination with MRCS, the regional office, and HQ. Ensuring staff safety, well-being, and duty of care in a challenging operational context.Expected results The trusted and strategic DRC–MRCS partnership is maintained and further strengthened, and the DRC operating model is adjusted DRC’s engagement contributes meaningfully to the Network-wide transformation agenda in Myanmar The DRC country team operates effectively, supporting localisation, coherence, and collective impact. The DRC-supported Programmes are resourced, implemented to the highest quality and in compliance with internal and donors regulations.Required Experience And Qualifications A relevant university degree (e.g. in international development, public health, or related field).

Minimum 7 years’ relevant international experience in humanitarian or development settings, preferably in fragile or conflict-affected contexts. Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership, change management, and organisational transformation. Proven track record in programme and financial management, and resource mobilisation.

Strong understanding of localisation, partnership models, and the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex political and cultural contexts.
