Local Council (Melbourne’s West)

$51 per hour + super

3-month temporary contract (January start)

Hybrid working model

Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s west to recruit an experienced Communications Officer for a 3-month temporary assignment commencing in January.

This role requires previous local council experience and strong writing, editing and stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

Publications: Research, write, edit and proofread a range of corporate publications.

Media Liaison: Support the preparation of media responses, alerts and releases; coordinate interviews and photo opportunities.

Speechwriting: Draft well-researched speeches for Council as required.

Project Communications: Plan, develop and deliver communications for special projects across the organisation.

About You

Proven communications experience within local government (essential).

Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Confident working with internal and external stakeholders.
