Chief Site Engineer Full-time Job

Position: Chief Site Engineer

Reports to: Construction Manager/Project Manager.

Department: Construction Department.

Location: Project Site- Iraq

Summary:

The Chief Site Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all the site’s technical activities and ensuring that they abide by the industry’s best practices and project specifications.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the health and safety for all construction activities on site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.

2. Directing all day-to-day activities on site for achieving program.

3. Preparing method statements for each activity prior execution.

4. Providing solutions for technical issues during execution

5. Monitoring program on daily, weekly basis and propose recovering plans for delays.

6. Attend regular meetings with the client, subcontractors to check project progress and solving problems

7. Overall responsibility for all survey requirements

8. Preparation and/ or overseeing preparation of Shop drawings.

9. Verification and certification of work done by sub-contractors. Coordinate and liaise with the sub-contractors on-site issues.

10. Ensures site safety through method statements and hazard analysis plans, conducting Tool Box Meetings (TBMs), etc.

11. Supervises field engineering and technological activities ensuring that all the work is performed in accordance with the project specification and approved drawings and procedures.

12. Ensures that approved changes are correctly implemented and properly recorded.

13. Review project quantities, cost estimates, staffing requirements, schedules, submittals and provide recommendations for project completion within budgetary constraints.

14. Supervise field engineering and technological activities ensuring that all the work is performed in accordance with the project specification and approved drawings and procedures.

15. Responsible for preparing daily & weekly reports.

16. Attending Client / Consultant meetings for progress updates, solve all technical issues and variation

17. Responsible for Site instructions execution issued by client/ consultant on site

18. Monitor construction progress on Site in comparison with established Project Schedule, advising Project Manager / Site Engineer about corrective measures and alternatives needed.

19. Ensuring quality of executed works

20. Overall quality on site in accordance with QCP & ITP. Ensure Site compliance with ISO Quality Management

21. Responsible to coordinate and liaise with company technical team /support office/ Engineering Office regarding site issues, shop drawings etc….

22. Monitor that the design is executed as per standards (ACI/ BS/ASTM etc…) including construction and safety standards

23. Assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly invoice & submitting to the Client in the prescribed timeframe.

24. Monitor sub-contractor's and supplier’s works & deliveries to insure complying with the company/project standards/specifications & as per project schedule.

25. To have complete command over project plan , cost analysis & variations that take place during course of project. And keep all stake holder informed about such variations and their overall impact

26. Supervising the material inwarding and inventory at site , monitoring utilization as per plan , and advising stores/purchasing manager about variance and proper actions.

27. To have oversite and approval over Material Approval Requests

28. Accountable to get sign off of Sub contractors payment certification . Should work with contractor to settle invoice payment on priority base within laid down contract time frame.

29. Monitor sub-contractor's activities through shop drawings. Schedule / daily reporting process

30. Supervise the process & record-keeping with regards to Quality Assurance & Quality Control, Health, Safety & Environmental, to ascertain & satisfy Company/ Project contractual requirements

Qualifications:

1. B. Sc. in Civil Engineering is a must.

2. Minimum 10 years experience in construction sites. At least 5 years experience as chief site engineer is a must

3. Good knowledge of construction methods

4. Leadership, organization and planning skills. Technical Skills in Civil Engineering & QA/QC Procedures.

5. High Communication Skills; Good experience with computers.

6. Fluency in Arabic & English languages is a must; knowing other languages is an added advantage.

7. PMP certificate is a plus
