What We Are Looking For

About the Team

As an Armour Shop Operator, you’ll join the Protection Team – working alongside four specialist groups: Finishing, Press, Water Jet and Material Cutting.

About The Role

The Armour Shop Operator plays a key role in the production of composite armour panels, supporting both the assembly and finishing processes. This includes preparing materials and components prior to bonding, ensuring all surfaces are properly treated, and assisting with the accurate placement and curing of adhesives. You will also contribute to quality control by inspecting parts for defects and ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturing standards throughout the production process.

Key Responsibilities Involve:

Assembling and finishing composite armour modules in accordance with technical specifications;

Assembling jigs and assembly fixtures for component manufacture;

Preparing metal components for adhesive bonding processes;

Loading and operation of hydraulic curing press;

Operation of a fabric cutting bench for the preparation of Kevlar™ and fiberglass material;

Operating vacuum table with heating function;

Working with the Waterjet operators with processing components; and

Material handling using an overhead crane and pallet handling equipment.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

Experience working with vacuum sealing equipment or performing adhesive repairs under vacuum;

The willingness to be trained on cutting equipment and cross-trained on other Armour Shop equipment;

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a production environment;

Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously; and

Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
