3D Modeler (Unreal Engine 5) – Job DescriptionEmployment Type: RemoteStudio: Boneshock StudioAbout the RoleWe are looking for a talented 3D Character Modeler who specializes in creating high-quality models for real-time games. The primary focus is character and creature modeling — sculpting, anatomy, facial structure, clean topology, and preparing game-ready assets for Unreal Engine 5.You will handle the full modeling pipeline: sculpting, retopology, UVs, baking, texturing, and Unreal Engine implementation.ResponsibilitiesCreate high-quality character and creature models—including bodies, faces, costumes, accessories, and unique stylizations.Sculpt detailed high-poly characters in ZBrush (or similar) with strong anatomical accuracy.Convert high-poly sculpts into clean, optimized low-poly, animation-ready character meshes.Handle all character-related retopology, UV unwrapping, baking (normal/AO/etc.), and texture creation.Build game-ready textures using Substance Painter/Designer under a PBR workflow.Create supplemental assets: props, weapons, gear, and hero objects as needed.Import characters and assets into Unreal Engine 5, ensuring proper materials, scale, and setup (Nanite/LODs if required).Work closely with animators and tech artists to ensure characters deform correctly and meet rigging requirements.Maintain consistent quality and style across all character assets.Optimize models for real-time performance on PC/console targets.Communicate clearly with the team and meet production deadlines.Required Qualifications3+ years of professional 3D modeling experience in games, film, or real-time media.Strong portfolio focused on characters and creatures (props/weapons are a plus).Advanced proficiency in: Blender, Maya, or 3ds MaxZBrush (character sculpting)Substance Painter/DesignerStrong understanding of: Character anatomy (body + facial structure)Retopology for animationUV layoutBaking (normals, AO, curvature, etc.)PBR texturingClean, real-time topology standardsExperience implementing assets into Unreal Engine 5.Ability to follow art direction and match the project’s character style.
