The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German public-benefit corporation owned by the Federal Government. GIZ operates worldwide in more than 120 countries. GIZ has worked in Azerbaijan since 1997. In Azerbaijan, GIZ implements programmes in the fields of economic development, rural development, and sustainable energy. GIZ is currently seeking a qualified professional for the vacant position of the Project Consultant (full-time) for the EU4Business: Local Economic Development (LED) Project. Area of assignment: Project Consultant Place of assignment: Baku Contract duration: up to 30.06.2026 Overall responsibilities: Assists project manager in coordinating the project activities. Assists in planning and organization of events, workshops, forums, and other public awareness initiatives. Support the Project manager to facilitate knowledge transfer by compiling project-relevant information materials, guidelines, lessons learned, etc. Provide administrative assistance to the project, particularly in procurement and contracting activities. Assist the project team in partner communication. Tasks: In consultation with the team, support and coordination of the different expertise fields to assure goal-oriented project implementation. Ensure up to date on national and international economic development trends and policies and propose relevant adaptations to project measures. Participates in the preparation and coordination of expert missions as well as trainings/workshops. Prepares and organizes documents for meetings, workshops and other project activities. Support communication with the EU Delegation, the Ministry of Economy, the State Agency on Small and Medium Business Development (KOBİA), as well as relevant implementing partners. Assists in preparing reports in line with GIZ regulations as well as any ad hoc reports as requested by the project team or the GIZ Office. Assures monitoring of implementation progress of tasks related to international best practice in the field of economic development with clear identification of success and risk factors. Assists international experts in tasks and processes on all administrative and organizational issues. Supports in designing and maintaining an efficient project knowledge management system. Undertakes any other tasks as assigned by the project team or GIZ Office. Required qualifications: University degree in a relevant field such as economics, development studies, business administration, or public policy. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in international development or a related field. Strong understanding of economic development principles and practices. Excellent organizational and coordination skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English and Azerbaijani (written and spoken). German language skills are an asset. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
