The Opportunity: The Deck Hand plays a key role in providing safe, efficient, and friendly service to Members and guests of the Club’s marina. This position is responsible for assisting with daily dock operations, boat handling, fueling, maintenance, and ensuring an exceptional waterfront experience. The Deck Hand works under the supervision of the Dockmaster or Marina Manager and is expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, hospitality, and professionalism.

Duties And Functions

Assist with docking and undocking of vessels, providing clear communication and hands-on support.

Operate marina equipment safely, including fueling stations, pumps, and carts.

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of docks, walkways, and marina facilities.

Provide excellent customer service, assisting Members and guests with requests, directions, and basic boating needs.

Perform light maintenance tasks such as washing, fueling, and securing vessels as directed.

Monitor marina for safety hazards, addressing issues promptly and reporting concerns to the Dockmaster/Manager.

Support the implementation of environmental and safety procedures, including spill prevention and response.

Assist with inventory and stocking of marina supplies.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall marina operations.

Qualification Standards

Previous marina, boating, or waterfront experience preferred, but not required—training provided.

Ability to handle boats safely and knowledge of basic seamanship a plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering exceptional service.

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by marina operations.

CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain preferred.
