POSITION SUMMARY:The Compliance Associate is responsible for conducting overall compliance activities for the local finance team, supporting key compliance processes, reviewing of controls and compliance with local laws inclusive but not limited to the Value Added Tax Act.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform annual and ongoing self-assessment function and continuous review of internal processes to ensure complianceQuarterly self-assessmentAssist with Business license reviewsKey processes review to reduce riskInternal auditPeriodic system access auditRecommend necessary actions to remediate process control deficiencies identifiedEnsure controls of day-to-day operations of the Finance/Accounting Department, Operations and Sales.Consistently provide comprehensive audits of internal company operations.Annual self-assessments, Internal Audit, Annual system access audit, FAMM compliance.Work with Internal Audit during audit.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma3 years internal control audit experiencePreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or economics5 years combination of financial analyst and/or accounting experienceInternal audit experience a plusPROFESSIONAL SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documentsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectivelyMust have exemplary listening skills to facilitate effective two- way communicationAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphsStrong problem-solving skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsMicrosoft Office skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:Standard work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility for occasional extended hours as needed.Primary work environment is an office setting with occasional visits to warehouse areas.Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.ABOUT US:Sysco Bahamas Food Services is the largest food service distributor in The Bahamas.
