The Actuarial & Analytics PDP provides formal rotational assignments, formal & on the job training and guidance from experienced actuarial staff. This structured and comprehensive actuarial program prepares you for an actuarial career! You’ll play a vital role in using analytics and innovative technology to create value for Travelers’ business operations. \n\nThe program requires at least 40 hours per week during normal business hours. This is your chance to get on the ground floor and start on the path to becoming an actuarial leader within the industry! \n\nProgram Overview\n\nThe Actuarial & Analytics PDP generally lasts three to four years and focuses on the first five exams in the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) professional actuarial designation program. Participants in the program can expect challenging assignments that provide them with opportunities to analyze statistical data, project future financial outcomes, build innovative business intelligence solutions and gain knowledge of business functions in a variety of insurance product lines and actuarial functional areas. Each PDP participant is required to pass actuarial exams administered by either the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) or the Society of Actuaries (SOA). Travelers provides paid study time, reimbursement of exam fees, and salary increases for successful completion of actuarial exams. In addition, the Travelers Actuarial & Analytics Community sponsors seminars by senior actuarial management as well as professional skills courses. All of these combine to make the Actuarial & Analytics PDP a superior professional development experience! \n\nThe PDP features multiple work assignments, generally lasting 6-12 months each. Assignment responsibilities could include: \n\nPricing and Ratemaking \nAssessing new business profitability \nPredictive Modeling \nRate level indication \nFinancial Analysis/Planning/Reserving \nLoss reserve analysis \nProfitability and trend studies \n\nResponsibilities of an Actuarial & Analytics Professional:\n\nEvaluates results and assists in the creation, documentation and presentation of alternative solutions or recommendations, balancing efficiency, cost effectiveness, and quality.\nUnder close supervision, applies data and trending, and performs moderately complex actuarial and statistical analyses in order to develop recommendations for use in pricing, valuation, or risk management.\nCommunicates with actuarial team members or cross functional business partners regarding projects or data to solicit or provide information and/or to clarify communication/information.\nConsistently produces quality work through effective decision making. Accountable for own work quality.\nIncreases actuarial knowledge, hones business skills, and applies newly gained skills to work assignments and actively participates in actuarial meetings, seminars and individual study programs.\nCommunicates actuarial concepts through verbal and written communications.\nDemonstrates a moderate degree of understanding of actuarial practices and principles, business operations and the external insurance environment.\nSupports adherence to standards and guidelines and supports peer review.\nPerform other duties as assigned. \n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science or related analytical field required. \nTwo actuarial exams (CAS or SOA) strongly preferred. \nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SQL, Python and/or R preferred.\n0-2 years relevant experience.\n
